Unleashing the Power of Personal Testimonies

When one thinks of a testimonial what does that look like? For many of us, that means people standing up in church and telling everyone about the blessings they received recently, the way God moved in their lives, things of positivity, etc. While those can be great to testify to the goodness of the Lord, that isn’t the one I specifically want to talk about today. But first, let’s look at what the Bible has to say.

2 Timothy 1:8 tells us “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…”

1 John 5:10 goes even further in saying “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.”

The term testimony refers to a term used in the court of law. It means to witness or to give evidence of something. Essentially it means to PROVE it. When it comes to modern Christians how can we PROVE our testimonies? What does that look like when it comes to our lived experiences? Well, I want you to think of someone you look up to. Why do you look up to them? Did they overcome some major challenges? Did it inspire you? What if I told you, that YOU were the PROOF for someone, that you have a testimony by just being YOU? You PROVED to someone that God made it possible to overcome just as you saw someone else overcome and felt the POWER in it! There is POWER in TESTIMONY!

John 3:11 says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.”

This verse is referring to the truth of who Jesus is but we can also see this in our lives. When we see something or experience something, we know that it is truth. When we see someone go from addiction to thriving, that is PROOF that a miracle has happened. That they were delivered. It is PROOF that I too can make it. If they can do it, I CAN TOO! There is POWER IN TESTIMONY!

God convicted them to get help!

God guided them to professionals and support networks!

God helped them find the right medications!

God connected them to the tools to maintain!

God pulled them out!

God redeemed them!

God can do that for you too!

God PROVED that He can make all things new!

THERE IS POWER IN TESTIMONY!

So, next time you hear the Enemy’s shouts when you start to doubt yourself, know that you are a testimony for someone else, even if you never know who. YOU are PROOF that God still moves!

Amen!

Be blessed
